Early Voting begins May 18 for runoff elections

Early Voting for the Van Zandt County Republican Party and Democratic Party Runoff Elections scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, will begin Monday, May 18, according to the VZC Clerk’s office. There will be only one week of Early Voting which will take place from 7 a.m.

Early Voting ends Tuesday for Fruitvale, WP elections

davidb@vanzandtnews.com Early Voting for the Saturday, May 2 Wills Point ISD School Board and City of Fruitvale began Monday, April 20, and continues through Tuesday, April 28. Early Voting was not held April 21 due to the San Jacinto Day holiday before resuming April 22.

The current state and future of the Wills Point Community Center/Easterwood Plaza took center stage as city leaders and representatives from the Wills Point Chamber of Commerce discussed issues and potential short and long-term fixes during a regularly scheduled Wills Point City Council session that stretched nearly two hours April 14.

Recognitions, upgrades highlight WP trustee meeting

The Wills Point ISD Board of Trustees met for more than two hours April 13, tackling an agenda heavy on student and staff recognitions, administrative reports and discussion about facility upgrades. Unlike other school board meetings, the trustees held its April 13 session at the high school after recent heavy storms resulted in damage at the administrative offices that were still in the process of being repaired as of meeting time.

Van City Manager Jeff Hudgens shared with the council members that the April sales tax numbers were received showing a total of $111,183.00 compared to $88,000.00 in April of last year.
