Kara Nixon popped the nets for 41 points Jan. 6 to lead the two-time defending Class 2A, Division 2, state champion Martins Mill Lady Mustangs to a dominating win over Alba- Golden in district play, 8332.

Tigers, Eagles well represented on All-District Football Team

The Wills Point Tigers and the Canton Eagles were well represented on the District 6-4A, Division 2, All-District Football Team that was recently released. Coach James Boxley’s Wills Point Tigers concluded their season with a 3-7 overall record and a 1-4 mark in District 6-4A, Division 2, play.

Several Vandals selected to All-District Football Team

The District 7-4A, Division 2, All-District Football Team released recently includes several members of the Van Vandals. Coach Jared Moffatt’s Vandals finished their 2025 season with an overall record of 7-5, a runner-up finish in District Championship Game.

Bulldogs eliminated by Arp in state football playoffs, 49-28

davidb@vanzandtnews.com A long night got even longer for the Edgewood Bulldogs as their remarkable varsity football season came to a close at the hands of the Arp Tigers, 4928, in the Class 3A, Division 2, Regional Semifinal played at Van’s Memorial Stadium.
Edgewood Bulldog captains approached the center of the field for the pre-game coin toss Nov. 28 as the Bulldogs faced Arp in the Class 3A, Division 2, regional semifinal contest at Van’s Memorial Stadium. The game featured a three-hour plus lightning delay in the third quarter. Edgewood’s season came to a close with a 49-28 loss to Arp to finish its season at 10-3. Photos by Billy York

It’s been a great week, and I’ve been blessed to spend time with fine friends that share my love of the outdoors. For those of us that love to hunt, this is most definitely ‘our’ time of year.
