The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office released the following arrest report from Dec. 19-Dec.

1936 – 2023 Don Edward Byrd, a man of strength, warmth, and unwavering love, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2023, in Rowlett, at the age of 87.

As we prepare to bring in the new year of 2024, it is time to take a look back at the stories and photos that made 2023 a year so eventful. From the swearing-in ceremony for 16 Van Zandt County public officials on the first day of the year to the Martins Mill High School Robotics state championship late in the year, there were many accomplishments and some disappointments that occurred.

1935 – 2023 Billy Jack Mann, 88, passed away in Dallas early Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety Media & Communications/ Safety Education Sgt. Adam Albritton, a preliminary investigation indicated that on Dec. 26, 2003, at around 6 p.m., a civilian aircraft crashed in the area of 114 Private Road 7005 in Edgewood.

1958 – 2023 Debrah Karen Craft, beloved daughter and mother, passed away on Nov. 6, 2023.
