The Van Lady Vandals and Canton Eaglettes met for the second and final time this season Oct. 10, clashing in a pivotal district showdown that should go a long way towards determining who enters the playoffs as the second seed from District 15-4A.

A pair of Van Zandt County heavyweights met on the gridiron in a key district showdown Oct. 9 as Canton made the short trek to Van for the first meeting between the two schools since the 2023 season. Canton would come away victorious in the matchup, continuing their perfect start to the season.

Runners representing more than 20 area school districts made their way to Canton Sept. 24 to compete in this year's Running Eagles Invitational. In addition to Canton, other competing teams with local ties at the annual event included Edgewood, Martins Mill, Van and Wills Point.

Van Zandt County football programs continued to grind their way towards the most important stretch of their respective seasons last week as Grand Saline and Edgewood both reached district play while Van, Canton and Wills Point all wrapped up their non-district slates.
