davidb@vanzandtnews.com Depending on the results of the regular season finales Nov. 7 for all five Van Zandt County varsity football teams, there was the possibility of having all five teams qualify for post-season play, including three with district championship hopes.

davidb@vanzandtnews.com With two regular season games remaining, all five Van Zandt County varsity football teams have opportunities to not only extend their seasons but to enter post-season play with lots of momentum.

With a winning percentage of 71, Allan Holloway of Canton is the winner of Football Contest #9 in the Contest winners are asked to call 903-567-4000 to make arrangements to pick up their coupons. The contest pages for Football Contest #11 can be found in the middle of the sports section in this issue of the News.

With his prediction in the ‘tie-breaker’ game, Gary Sewell of Wills Point is the winner of Football Contest #8 in the Sewell, along with Glenn McNeill Jr. of Wills Point, tied with winning percentages of 83 each forcing the ‘tie-breaker’ game to be used to break the deadlock.

Ty Rotan of Edgewood is a four-time Regional Qualifier and now a back-to-back state qualifier in cross-country. Rotan finished seventh at the Regional Meet with a time of 16:54.

The 2024-25 Van ISD Faculty and Staff Hall of Fame Inductees were recognized prior to the start of the varsity football game Oct. 17 between the Van Vandals and the Gilmer Buckeyes. The inductees included Kenneth Griffin, Bert Ice, Betty Lewis, Jo Moore, and Tempie White. Ice, Moore, and White were represented by their families.
