1954-2022 Jerry Richey was born on August 5, 1954, in Athens, and died on September 18, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, Minnie Richey and Grover Cleveland, and by his sisters, Vergie Dinsmore and Opal Wied.

1937-2022 Funeral services for Eva Louise Langston, 85, of Wills Point, were held Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. Eva passed away from this life into the welcoming arms of her Lord on Monday, September 9, 2022.

1940-2022 Funeral services for Paul Merten, 82, of Wills Point, were held Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Hiett’s Ly-Brand Funeral Home. Burial followed at White Rose Cemetery.

Over 700 fourth grade students representing every school district in Van Zandt County were in attendance Sept. 27 and 28 at the VZC Fairgrounds in Canton for the annual ‘Ag in the Classroom’ event, sponsored by the VZC Farm Bureau.
