DAVID KAPITAN Correspondent A steady stream of visitors made their way to Jack Lester Park in Wills Point June 12-13 as the Wills Point Police Department hosted its signature outreach event, ‘Back the Blue,’ for the 10th consecutive year.

A number of delegates from Van Zandt County attended the 2026 Republican State Convention that was held last week in Houston. For me, it ranked as one of the best Republican State Conventions that I have attended.

On June 15, the Van Zandt County Historical Commission (VZCHC) joined community members to dedicate a new Texas Historical Marker in Grand Saline. The marker commemorates the Texas Short Line Railway that once connected Grand Saline to the coal mines in Wood County.
