Texas first state to mandate Bible reading in school
TEXAS PRESS ASSOCIATION The State Board of Education gave final approval last week to a new required reading list for every grade level and also passed a rewrite of the state’s social studies requirements for kindergarten to eighth grade, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
Horton resigns from Van School Board
The Van School Board accepted the resignation of Place 6 trustee Brian Horton on June 15 during the board’s regular monthly meeting. Horton has accepted a position with the Levelland Fire Department as he and his family will be moving from Van ISD.
Retiring employee recognized by GS School Board

Van City Council approves board appointments
davidb@vanzandtnews.com Appointments to various boards received approval June 18 from the Van City Council during its regular monthly meeting. Marcos Dos Santos was unanimously approved by the council members to serve on the city’s Planning and Zoning Board.
