Preparations continue for the 2024 Community Health Fair that will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

AVan Zandt County man was transferred to a Texas prison last Friday after he pled guilty to a cruelty to animals’ charge at a Wills Point property. James Henry Eubanks was sentenced to six years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TCDJ) system penitentiary when he pled guilty to Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals, a third-degree felony, according to the SPCA of Texas.

Preparations continue for the 2024 Community Health Fair that will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Neches River Chapter in Van Zandt County will be hosting ‘Bells Across America’ as VZC will be honoring the United States Constitution. The program is scheduled for 2:45 p.m.

The Van Area Chamber of Commerce held its quarterly luncheon Sept. 3 with Cameron Lowery of Diamond L Veterinary Service of Wills Point and the Grand Saline Veterinary Clinic serving as the guest speaker.

The demolition of the old bridge at the intersection of Interstate 20 and FM 859 in Canton is still on schedule for the weekend of Sept. 7 and Sept. 8, according to Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Tyler District Public Information Officer Jeff Williford.

The AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) and the Van Zandt County/ Sarah Norman Library, located at 317 First Monday Lane in Canton, are sponsoring a driver safety class from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19.
