Hudgens named as interim city manager in Van

First Day of School

All seven Van Zandt County school districts have started their 2024-25 school year. Wills Point ISD was the first school to report on Aug. 8. Martins Mill ISD returned to class Aug. 12. Fruitvale entered the classroom on Aug. 13. Canton ISD, Edgewood ISD, and Grand Saline ISD began their school years Aug. 14 and Van ISD started Aug. 15.

davidb@vanzandtnews.com Two Chinese nationals arrested for money laundering following a traffic stop Aug. 1 on Interstate 20 near Wills Point remain in the Van Zandt County Jail as of Aug. 12, according to VZC Criminal District Attorney Tonda Curry.

WPHS Tigerettes Sponsor The WPHS Tigerettes have been invited to perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade in New York City. This is a big opportunity for the dancers and for Wills Point. While we are in New York we will be working with 600 other dancers from across the US on the choreography to dance at the beginning of the parade.
