Commissioners approve tax rate, budget

davidb@vanzandtnews.com After agreeing to modify the proposed fiscal year 2025 budget in a 2-0 vote on Aug. 14, the VZC Commissioners Court unanimously approved the modified version in a 5-0 vote during their regular meeting Sept. 11.

Big Boy Steam Engine stopping in East Texas

Union Pacific Railroad has announced an exciting tour featuring its legendary locomotive, Big Boy No. 4014, which is set to visit over three dozen communities across 10 states this fall.

VHS Homecoming Nominees

Van High School will be the first school in Van Zandt County to celebrate Homecoming this year as a number of activities are scheduled during the week of Sept. 1620.

Republican Club of Van Zandt County Vice-President Van Zandt County as well as most counties in Texas are rural agricultural counties. Is there a problem with foreign countries especially those who are our adversaries owning agricultural properties? Last year, the Texas Senate passed legislation to ban China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia from purchasing Texas land, but the bill was ultimately killed in the Texas House under the leadership of House Speaker Dade Phelan.
