Brooklynn Peoples, daughter of Cassie and Josh Peoples, was crowned as the 2025 Miss Van Zandt County March 29 during the 67th Annual VZC Fair and Rodeo at the VZC Fairgrounds in Canton. The Canton Economic Development Corporation (EDC) has announced a Groundbreaking Ceremony for a significant expansion of Industrial Park #1, located at 1171 Industry Drive, Canton. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, April 7.

An estimated 20 citizens were in attendance April 1 for a Town Hall Meeting at Van City Hall to discuss an upcoming $3.5 million Bond Election scheduled for May 3. Van Interim City Manager Jeff Hudgens led a power-point presentation discussing the need to re-drill Water Well #3, one of four water wells in the city.

The Martins Mill community will have the opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of their Mustang and Lady Mustang varsity Class 2A, Division 2, State Basketball Championships with a Parade and Rally starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 10.

Grand Saline Police Chief Jeremy Barker released the following statement around 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, regarding the search for a suspect at large following an early morning pursuit of a motorcyclist.

Future authors can show off their talent in the Grand Saline Friends of the Library Young Writers Contest with entries due on May 2. The contest is open to Grand Saline ISD and home school students in grades six through 12.
