The City of Van Economic Development Corporation (EDC) will be having a Business Networking Reception from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at Southern Tire Mart at Pilot.

Joe Zoubi, the visionary proprietor of Dukes Plaza and Craft 64 Sports Bar located on State Highway 64 at the intersection of Interstate 20 in Canton is embarking on an exciting new venture that promises to reshape the local community.

Canton ISD released a letter from Canton ISD Superintendent Brian Nichols that was sent to parents following a March 5 accident involving a school district bus. “We want to inform you of an incident involving one of our school buses that occurred earlier today (March 5) on Highway 64,” said Nichols in the letter.

On Jan. 9, the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team was conducting enforcement activities in the Rolling Oaks area of Wills Point in VZC.

Students in the graduating classes of 2026 and 2027 can sign up to participate in this year’s Engage program offered through Texas Farm Bureau’s (TFB) Student Success Series. The program helps students develop leadership skills, explore potential career opportunities, network with their peers in the area and meet Farm Bureau staff and members.

Thursday, March 13 is the next meeting of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 12219 at the Canton Senior Citizens Building. The regular business meeting begins at approximately 7 p.m.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar said March 3 that state sales tax revenue totaled $3.8 billion in February, 4.3 percent more than in February 2024. The majority of February sales tax revenue is based on sales made in January and remitted to the agency in February.
