Traffic stop leads to arrest of heroin suspect

On April 21, a member of the Criminal Interdiction Team from the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office performed a vehicle stop resulting in an arrest for suspected heroin. A member of the VZC Criminal Interdiction Team was on routine patrol in VZC when the deputy observed a vehicle committing multiple moving violations.

Edgewood ISD names Scott Tyner as lone finalist

Following a meeting held April 21, the Edgewood School Board announced that Scott Tyner has been named as the lone finalist for the position of Edgewood ISD Superintendent. Tyner is currently the Martins Mill ISD Superintendent where he has served since 2021.

Temporary Restraining Order extended to May 7

Van Zandt County Criminal District Attorney Tonda Curry updated the VZC Commissioners Court during its regular meeting April 23.
