Hope Center in Canton will be hosting a community- wide Touch-A-Truck event from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at the First Baptist Church of Canton parking lots.

Temporary Restraining Order extended to June 4

The Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the developers of a lithium battery storage facility being built south of Canton has been extended through Wednesday, June 4. Van Zandt County Criminal District Attorney Tonda Curry updated the VZC Commissioners Court during its regular meeting May 21.

A total of 25 seniors received their diplomas May 23 during the 2025 Fruitvale High School Graduation in the FHS Gymnasium. Following the procession, ‘Pomp and Circumstance,’ and the National Anthem, Fruitvale ISD Superintendent Rebecca Bain welcomed those in attendance.

Packed gymnasium greeted MMHS Graduating Class of 2025

It was standing room only May 15 for the Martins Mill High School Class of 2025 Graduation Ceremony as a number of residents turned out to support the graduates at the O’Neal Weaver Gymnasium, The hour-long ceremony began with the graduating class entering the gymnasium during the ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ processional.

Gov, Abbott announces $30,000.00 reward for fugitive

Governor Greg Abbott announced May 15 that the Office of the Governor’s Public Safety Office is offering a reward of up to $10,000.00 for information leading to the arrest of Trevor McEuen, who failed to appear for his court date while out on bond for capital murder. The Texas Department of Public Safety has added the suspect to their 10 Most Wanted Fugitive List.

Marion County man convicted of federal sex trafficking violations

With the help of a number of law enforcement agencies in the investigation including the Canton Police Department, a Jefferson man has been found guilty of federal sex trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Abe McGlothin, Jr.

Reese to speak at Memorial Day Program May 26

Van Zandt County Judge Andy Reese will be the guest speaker during the Annual Memorial Day Program scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, May 26 at the VZC Veterans Memorial located at the intersection of State Highways 19 and 243 in Canton.
