The AARP Driver Safety Course and the Van Zandt County/Sarah Norman Library are sponsoring a driver safety course from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7. The library is located at 317 First Monday Lane (FM 859) in Canton.

Special dedication ceremony set for Sept. 9 in Canton

The Belief Center of Canton will be hosting a special dedication ceremony known as ‘Celebrate Our Soldiers’ from 7-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Van Zandt Veterans Memorial Plaza, located at the intersection of State Highways 19 and 243 in Canton.

Tax rate approved by Van trustees

A tax rate that includes an 18.54 cent decrease was approved by the Van School Board in a 4-0 vote Aug. 21 during the regular monthly meeting of the Van School Board. Trustees Shannon Johnson and Scott Thomas were not in attendance.
