Committee members vetting questions, debate panelists asking the questions, and a tentative debate format for the Texas House, District 2, Republican Party candidate debate in Van Zandt County has been released.

Over 100 community members attended the First Annual Back-to-School Prayer Rally held Aug. 10 at the Grand Saline ISD campuses. The rally was coordinated by community members and led in prayer by Rev. David Crain, Rev. Jeremy Tally, Rev. Randy Edwards, Rev. Kelly Krone and Rev. Wes Weruch. Community members walked to each campus praying for its students, teachers, administrators, and parents.

Terrell Police are investigating the shooting death of a Terrell High School student Wednesday morning. According to a press release from the Terrell Police Department, offi cers responded to a 9-1-1 call at 8:12 a.m.

The annual Colfax Homecoming will take place Sunday, Aug. 27, at Colfax United Methodist Church beginning at 10:30 AM.

In a 3-0 vote, the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court agreed to implement a 90-day burn ban, effective immediately, during a special called meeting Aug. 7.

The Van Zandt 4-H Awards Ceremony was held Monday, July 31, at the Van Zandt Farm Bureau Event Center. More than 125 members, families, friends, sponsors and special guests gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of the 2022-23 year.

UT Health East Texas has reached an agreement with UnitedHealthcare that protects patients’ in-network access to UT Health East Texas facilities and providers. The agreement ensures patients will not experience any disruption in care.
