Dutton victorious in runoff election

Both Republican Party candidates in the special runoff election Jan. 30 for the Texas House District 2 seat released statements following the results showing that Jill Dutton of Van defeated Brent Money of Greenville by 111 votes in the three-county election. Texas House District 2 covers Van Zandt, Hunt, and Hopkins Counties.

First Town Hall Meeting set for Monday

April 8 Total Solar Eclipse events in VZC announced

A Total Solar Eclipse will take place on Monday, April 8, and Van Zandt County is a destination spot to see the full effects of the eclipse. North America has not seen a total eclipse since 2017.

Commissioners hear update on special election voting

During the Jan. 31 regular meeting of the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court, VZC Clerk Susan Strickland shared an overall positive report regarding voting procedures in VZC during the Jan. 30 Texas House District 2 special runoff election.
