The Van Zandt County Child Welfare Board works hard for around 100 foster children in VZC. They provide allowances, clothing, birthdays, peewee sports fees, college tuition, rehabilitative equipment for injuries, Christmas presents, and other expenses.

Fruitvale ISD Superintendent Fruitvale ISD has accomplished so many things during 2023. Fruitvale ISD paid over $400,000 in incentive money to designated teachers and staff through the state of Texas Teacher Incentive Allotment program.

With the anticipated partial and total solar eclipse event scheduled to be viewed in Van Zandt County and surrounding areas just three months away, the City of Van has announced plans to celebrate during the weekend of Friday, April 5 through Monday, April 8 at McMillan Park. The actual day of the eclipse is scheduled for the afternoon hours of Monday, April 8.
