Lady Panthers edge past Wills Point Lady Tigers

sports@vanzandtnews.com The Wills Point Lady Tigers continued District 14-4A play last week, making the short trek to Quinlan for a matchup against the Ford Lady Panthers. Wills Point would come up short in the contest, narrowly winning the first set before falling to Ford 24-26, 25-20, 25-21, 25-20.

Indians continue shutout streak

The 2022 football season has taken plenty of twists and turns for county football teams since play began back on Aug. 26. Last week proved to be no exception as Canton returned to the win column, Edgewood stayed perfect on the young season, Grand Saline posted its second consecutive shutout, Wills Point took the field without head coach Tommy Poynter, Van suffering a rare lopsided defeat and Fruitvale missing game action entirely due to injury concerns within the program.

ROVFD seeks volunteers, donations

Area fire departments had their hands full throughout much of the summer, logging hundreds of miles to cover their own service areas and provide mutual aid to neighboring departments during one of the most active fire seasons in recent memory.
