Fourth of July and America’s 250th Birthday Celebrations will start happening before July 4 in Van Zandt County as Van, Grand Saline, and Wills Point will be hosting holiday activities on Saturday, June 27. Canton will be hosting their downtown activities on Saturday, July 4.

VZC well represented at State Republican Convention

A number of delegates from Van Zandt County attended the 2026 Republican State Convention that was held last week in Houston. For me, it ranked as one of the best Republican State Conventions that I have attended.

Business conducted during the state convention will be discussed during the next regular monthly meeting of the Republican Club of Van Zandt County (RCVZC) scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, June 22, at the VZC Farm Bureau Event Center in Canton. New Historical Marker dedicated in Grand Saline

On June 15, the Van Zandt County Historical Commission (VZCHC) joined community members to dedicate a new Texas Historical Marker in Grand Saline. The marker commemorates the Texas Short Line Railway that once connected Grand Saline to the coal mines in Wood County.
