sports@vanzandtnews.com Runners representing Edgewood and Grand Saline, as well as Commerce, Emory Rains, Lone Oak, Paris Chisum and Prairiland, made their way to Lone Oak Oct. 8 to compete in this year’s District 12-3A Meet.

Last week’s games proved to be less than kind to Van Zandt County football programs with just one team, the Edgewood Bulldogs, finding their way into the win column. With the playoffs rapidly approaching, county teams will now have just three weeks left to lock in a top-four finish.

The Edgewood Lady Dogs took two large steps forward in their quest for a district title last week, turning back Commerce and Prairiland in successive matches with contests left to play in the regular season.
