The City of Edgewood recently named John Morrison as its new Police Chief. Morrison started his career in law enforcement in 2010 when he graduated from the East Texas Police Academy.

With a major one-day event coming to Van Zandt County in approximately four months from now, planning is already well underway as a number of city and VZC law enforcement representatives along with VZC public officials were in attendance Nov. 29 at the VZC Farm Bureau Event Center.

Three Van Zandt County cities are finalizing their preparations for their Christmas parades and other holiday activities. In a 3-2 vote, the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court nominated three individuals to serve on the Van Zandt County Appraisal District’s Board of Directors for the next two years. The Wills Point Community Angel Tree (WPCAT) is a community-wide, annual donation program that provides Christmas gifts for children in families facing financial hardship during the holiday season. The WPCAT had 350 Angels available for sponsoring but still have over 100 unadopted Angels available for sponsoring.
