Canton Eaglettes move to 4-0 in district

The Canton Eaglettes hit the court for the first of two scheduled meetings with rival Van on Tuesday night, looking to continue their perfect start to district play against the 2-1 Lady Vandals. Canton’s best defensive effort of the season would prove to be the difference in the contest as the Eaglettes handed Van their second consecutive 22-point loss, 46- 24.

Eagles down Vandals in thriller, 41-40

Two longtime foes renewed their rivalry on Tuesday night as the Canton Eagles and their student section, dubbed the Color Cult, played host to the Van Vandals and their equally rowdy Red Mafia. Canton would prevail in the first of two scheduled matchups between the two programs, following up a season sweep of the Vandals last season with a 41-40 triumph.

The Martins Mill Lady Mustangs delivered one of their best games of the season last week, opening District 19-2A play with an 84- 20 demolition of the Cross Roads Lady Bobcats Jan. 7.

Mustangs fall in OT heartbreaker

The Martins Mill Mustangs had their hands full last week, playing host to a Class 4A Brownsboro team that boasted an 18-3 record overall on the season. Martins Mill would come up just short in the contest, battling their way into overtime before narrowly falling 50-49 to the Bears.

Eagles wrap non-district play

The Canton Eagles hit one of their slowest stretches of the season last week, hitting the court just one time with a home date against Jacksonville Jan. 7. The Eagles would hang tough early in the contest before a second half surge carried the Indians pull away for a 61-35 win.

Eaglettes down Lady Tigers, Lady Panthers

The Canton Eaglettes renewed their longstanding rivalry with Wills Point Jan. 7, playing host to the Wills Point Lady Tigers. Canton would go on to prevail in the contest, fending off a stiff Wills Point challenge to secure a 53-44 victory.

Lady Mustangs claim Caprock title

The Martins Mill Lady Mustangs joined some of the top programs from across the country in Lubbock last week, competing in the Double T Smiles bracket of the annual Caprock Classic. Martins Mill would take care of business at the prestigious event, notching wins over Wildorado, Merkel, Sands and Panhandle to win this year’s championship.

Mustangs take third at Caprock Classic

The Martins Mill Mustangs hit the road to go west following the holiday break, traveling to Lubbock Dec. 29-31 to compete in the 62 nd annual Caprock Classic.
