Lady Dogs roll past Lindale

sports@vanzandtnews.com The Edgewood Lady Dogs made it look easy on Tuesday night, blitzing an overmatched Lindale squad both offensively and defensively to take a convincing 48-23 win. Kassidy Paul helped to shoulder the load offensively for the Lady Dogs, finishing with a game-high 15 points in the win.

Van High School Tennis Coach Cortland Davidson was recently named as Region II Tennis Coach of the Year. Davidson led the Vandal tennis program to a bi-district title this season, and the program finished the fall ranked 17th overall among all 4A teams according to the Texas Tennis Coaches Association.

Football season draws to a close for local teams

Van Zandt County football teams that qualified for this year’s playoffs had their hands full last week, taking on a slate of talented opponents in bi-district round action. Despite a solid effort across the board Edgewood, Grand Saline and Van all came up short, officially closing the books on the 2022 season for county teams.

Eleven county athletes compete at State Meet

Van Zandt County was well represented at the UIL State Cross Country Meet last week with a 11 runners, including representatives from Canton, Martins Mill, Van and Wills Point, competing against the state’s best.
