With the 2A volleyball regular season and playoffs now in the rearview, coaches from across the state released their lists of Superlative and All-District rec- Fruitvale more than held its own competing in a District 12-2A alongside Cumby, North Hopkins, Como-Pickton, Alba- Golden and Boles as 11 Lady Cat players earned either All-District First Team, All-District Second Team or Honorable Mention All-District nods.

The Edgewood Lady Dogs hit the ground running following the recent Thanksgiving holiday break, tangling with the Class 4A Mabank Lady Lady Tigers. Edgewood would make it look easy in both games, picking up lopsided wins to push their overall season record to 5-1.

Eaglettes race to 7-1 start

news@vanzandtnews.com The Canton Eaglettes basketball team entered the 2022-23 season under new reign, as Troy Carrell takes over the head coach position after spending the past 12 seasons at Woodville High School. At the time of being hired by Canton, Carrell boasted a 369-122 overall record, featuring trips to the State Tournament in 2019 and 2020.

Mustangs tame Lions in 61-22 rout

Lady Dogs dominate Superlative recognitions

Thompson named District 16-4A MVP
