VZC has 1,397 active cases of COVID-19

The Northeast Texas Public Health District reported that there have been 7,195 confirmed or probable cases (cases with a COVID-19 positive antigen test), including 4,274 confirmed cases and 2,921 probable cases as of Monday, Sept. 20, in Van Zandt County.

VISD sees slight growth in student enrollment

A trial date is set for 78-year-old John Stevens for the 2019 school bus crash that left one child dead and another injured in Athens after a train collided with the bus. The trial will be held Feb.

Shooting claims life of Kaufman woman

An 80-year-old Kaufman County woman has been arrested and charged with murder in the shooting death of her daughter earlier yesterday. At approximately 4:40 p.m., the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a domestic disturbance in the 12000 block of Farmto-Market (FM) 1836.
