Two employees of the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Department were recognized for their years of service Dec. 8 during the regular meeting of the VZC Commissioners Court.
Van Zandt County Court at Law Judge Josh Wintters was the guest speaker Dec. 7 at the Van Area Chamber of Commerce Quarterly Luncheon held at The Movie House in downtown Van.
It was a very informative meeting for the 106 who attended the November meeting with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. There were several hot button issues that AG Paxton addressed.
On Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, at approximately 11:29 a.m. Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a call regarding a carjacking at gunpoint (aggravated robbery) at the Love’s Truck Stop in the city limits of Van.

A forfeiture fund spending request from the Van Zandt County Criminal District Attorney’s office totaling $2,719 was approved by the VZC Commissioners Court during its regular meeting Nov. 24.
On Monday, Nov. 29, at approximately 5 p.m., Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting on Van Zandt County Road 4814 in the Ben Wheeler area of Van Zandt County.
