July 4th celebration activities set in VZC

Off-duty accident claims life of sheriff’s deputy
The Van Zandt County Sheriff ’s Department is mourning the loss of a deputy who was killed in a two-vehicle accident June 11 on State Highway 198 near the Phalba Community in VZC. According to VZC Sheriff’s Department Deputy Erin Mc-Leaish, on Sunday, June 11, at approximately 4:14 p.m., Sgt.

Summer reading program underway at VZC Library
Activities for the 2023 Summer Reading Program at the Van Zandt County/ Sarah Norman Library in Canton were recently announced by library officials. The theme of this year’s Summer Reading Program is ‘All Together Now: Unity, Friendship, and Kindness.’

The TexasA&M Extension Service Offices of Van Zandt County, Smith County, Rains County and Kaufman County have announced Summit June 30 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Van Zandt County Farm Bureau Center located at 220 Burnett Trail in Canton.
