Charity 5K run, pickleball tournament scheduled

The Isaiah 40:31 Charity 5k Run and Pickleball Tournament are scheduled for Saturday, March 28, at Twin Lakes Nursery in Canton. Proceeds will benefit Eleazar Alejos.

Early Voting ends; Election Day is March 3

Early Voting for the March 3 Republican and Democratic Primary Elections in Van Zandt County ended Friday, Feb. 27 as the emphasis now moves on to Election Day voting scheduled for Tuesday, March 3 Early Voting began Feb. 17 at both locations. The Early Voting totals through Feb. 24 were as follows: There were 3,371 total Early Votes cast as of Feb. 24 including 2,713 (2,324 Republicans and 369 Democrats) at the Canton location and 658 (534 Republicans and 119 Democrats) at the Van location.

ROVFD to host Annual Pancake Day March 7

The Rolling Oaks Volunteer Fire Department (ROVFD) will host their Annual Pancake Day from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 7 at the ROVFD Station located at the corner of Bee Hill Road and Hollow Horn Road (139 VZCR 3832) in Wills Point.

Six area high school seniors were honored with scholarships totaling $10,500.00, as part of the 2026 ‘Women with Heart’ scholarship contest during a ceremony held Feb. 18 at the CHRISTUS Health Louis and Peaches Owen Heart Hospital.
