Former WPISD teacher arrested in VZC

A former Wills Point ISD teacher was arrested and booked into the Van Zandt County Jail June 20 before being released on the same day. Amanda Blakely Green, 36, of Kaufman, was charged with two counts of online solicitation of a minor by sexual conduct and possessing child pornography, according to the VZC Sheriff’s Office.

This means that residents of the county who have suffered damage to their primary residence may be eligible for free grant assistance from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) to aid in their recovery.

Van council approves re-zoning request

Following a public hearing, the Van City Council approved a re-zoning request on property located in the city from residential to commercial during their regular monthly meeting June 13. The property is owned by Sajid Muhammad and is located at 582 North Maple Street.

One month remains to apply for FEMA assistance

Texans who sustained losses from the storms and flooding April 26-June 5 have one month remaining to apply for federal assistance. The deadline is July 16, 2024.
