NEW CANTON ROTARY OFFICERS

The Van Zandt County and Smith County offices of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension have combined forces to sponsor a ‘Fight Human Trafficking’ educational workshop starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 at the Tyler Junior College West Campus.

According to Van Zandt County Judge Andy Reese, VZC has been approved for federal assistance from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) for the recent storms between April 26, 2024 - June 5, 2024.

This special presentation was part of the VZC/Sarah Norman Library Summer Reading program which is being held every Friday through July at the library.

TxDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) has scheduled a closure on Interstate 20 in Van Zandt County for Monday, July 8. The closure will affect the FM 859 bridge, north of Canton, from 9 p.m.

Van ISD did not have to look very far in their search for a new head girls’ varsity basketball coach as former Grand Saline Lady Indian Head Girls’ Basketball Coach Alan Wilson was hired to lead the Van Lady Vandal program.

On June 27, the City of Van officially welcomed Southern Tire Mart of Flying Pilot J to the community. Southern Tire Mart of Flying Pilot J President John Boynton gave everyone in attendance a tour of the impressive facility which is located at 135 FM 314 inVan.
