District play underway for some VZC teams

For four out of the six Van Zandt County football teams, the race is on in the battle for district championships as two major VZC battles were played Sept. 29.

Eaglettes’ golf team capture Whitestone Invitational

The Canton Eaglettes’ golf team competed Sept. 26 at the Whitestone Invitational at the Whitestone Golf Club in Benbrook and came home in first place by 40 shots over several Dallas-Fort Worth schools including Stephenville, Abilene High and Benbrook.

Suspect arrested in road rage shooting

One suspect is in custody following a road rage shooting resulting in the death of a female, according to a press release from the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Department Sept. 20.
