District 9-3A, Division 2, All-District Football Team released

The Edgewood Bulldogs and the Grand Saline Indians were well represented on the District 9-3A, Division 2, All-District Football Team recently released. One of the ‘Superlative’ awards was given to Grand Saline sophomore quarterback Jett Taylor, who was named as the district’s ‘Offensive Newcomer’ of the season.

Holiday events scheduled for VZ County

Christmas Parades and other holiday activities are drawing closer throughout Van Zandt County as four VZC cities have released their plans to celebrate the holiday season and they are as follows: Van A lighted Christmas Parade, caroling, a tree lighting, ‘Vantastic’ photo ops including Santa and Mrs. Claus will be featured in the City of Van’s ‘Christmas Experience’ starting at 6 p.m.

Commissioners officially canvass election results

During a 10-minute special session Nov. 17, the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court officially canvassed the results from the Nov. 7 General Election involving 14 proposed Constitutional Amendments as well as the special election for Texas House District 2 representative.
Van Zandt County Clerk’s Office Elections Administrator Shannon Maddox shared the final results from the Nov. 7 General Election in VZC during a special session of the VZC Commissioners’ Court Nov. 17. The VZC results in the Constitutional Amendment as well as the special Texas House District 2 State Representative races were officially canvassed in a unanimous vote by the commissioners’ court.
