davidb@vanzandtnews.com One of the most impressive post-season runs in the history of the school came to a disappointing conclusion for the Van Vandals Dec. 6 as they were eliminated in the Regional Final/State Quarterfinal round of the Class 4A, Division 2, state football playoffs by the Carthage Bulldogs, 53-14, at Longview Pine Tree’s Pirate Stadium.

Three Edgewood players win All-District ‘Superlative’ awards

Three members of the Edgewood Bulldog varsity football team earned ‘Superlative’ awards as the District 9-3A, Division 2, All-District Team was recently announced. Coach Alex Guerra’s Bulldogs finished 8-4 overall after finishing in second place in the district race and winning the Class 3A, Division 2, bi-district championship.

The Grand Saline Indians were well represented on the District 9-3A, Division 2, All-District Football Team announced recently. Coach Joe Drennon’s Grand Saline Indians finished 2024 with an overall record of 11-1 after capturing the District 9-3A, Division 2, championship as well as the Class 3A, Division 2, bi-district title.
