Mineola radio station KMOO (99.9 FM) has announced that the 2025 football season premiere of ‘The Locker Room Show’ will be Monday, Aug. 25, from 6:308:30 p.m.

Proposed tax rate approved by commissioners davidb@vanzandtnews.com The proposed tax rate for Fiscal Year 2026 of $0.299600 was unanimously approved by the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court during its regular meeting Aug. 13.

In Pittsburg on Aug. 13, with over 300 citizens in attendance, the Northeast Texas Regional Water Planning Group (NETRWPG) met at the Region 8 Education Service Center to discuss pressing water management issues, notably the contentious proposal for a new reservoir on Grand Saline Creek.

Van ISD was the final school district in Van Zandt County to begin the 2025-26 school year as students reported for classes Aug. 14. Students, teachers, and administrators were excited to get another academic year underway.
