First Day of School at Martins Mill ISD

Martins Mill ISD was the second school district in Van Zandt County to begin classes for the 2025-26 school year as they opened their doors Aug. 11. Wills Point ISD was the first school district to VZC to report as classes there began Aug. 6. TFFC temporarily closed for public visitation

Body The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFFC) in Athens has temporarily closed to visitors while Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) completes emergency repairs to a steel column that structurally supports the main visitor center building.

Back-To-School Prayer Rally

Body Rev. Kelly Krone of the First United Methodist Church of Grand Saline led in prayer Aug. 7 during the third annual Back-To-School Prayer Rally for students, staff, and schools in Grand Saline ISD. The rally was held at each GSISD campus and was attended by over 100 citizens.
