Athletes representing the Canton and Van track and field programs made their way to Lindale April 12, squaring off against competitors from Athens, Brownsboro, Cumberland Academy, Lindale and Mabank at this year’s District 16-4A Meet.

editor@vanzandtnews.com The Edgewood Bulldogs made their way to Grand Saline on Tuesday night, taking on the Indians for the first of two scheduled district matchups between the programs this season. Edgewood would make it look easy in the contest, pounding out 15 hits on dent on the scoreboard during the first two innings, keeping the score tied at 0-0 heading into the top of the third. The tenor of the game would change from there as Edgewood plated three runs to seize control.

The Grand Saline Lady Indians accomplished a pair of goals on Tuesday night against Edgewood, building up positive momentum with the playoffs looming just over the horizon sweep of the Lady Dogs. Grand Saline and Edgewood had met once before this season with the Lady Indians powering their way to an 8-0 win back on March 24.

Shannon Johnson, 53, and her husband, Zach, have three children; Hannah, 22; Grace, 21; and Sophie, 16. She is self-employed.

Judson Moore is 47 and is married to Stephanie. Moore said, “It is a strong faith in the Lord, experience in law enforcement, relationships in the community and school district, a willingness to listen and learn that makes me the best candidate for the Van ISD Board of Trustees.

Mark McClanahan, 61, and his wife, Carla, have five children, Carter, MarLee, Christopher, Jason, and Cason. He serves as Director of Maintenance for the North East Texas Regional Mobility Authority (NETRMA).

Cody Campbell, 41, and his wife, Karen, have two children, Jones and Jack. He is self-employed working as an outfitter/ hunting guide and as a realtor.

Todd Kempton, 54, and his wife, Kenna, have two children, Brittney and Brayden. He currently serves as the Van Church of Christ minister.

Brandi Morris, 49, and her husband, Glen, have two children, Tyler and Evie. She works for the Grand Saline ISD Maintenance and Transportation Department.

Ridge Tardy, 30, and his wife, Crystal, have five children: Coby, Cooper, Chloe, Cambree, and Creed. He is employed at Grand Saline ISD where he serves as Child Nutrition Director.
