The Van Lady Vandals hit the road last week, participating in their final tournament of the season in Quitman Dec. 28- 29. The Lady Vandals would go 3-0 overall at the two-day event, notching wins over Emory Rains, Scurry-Rosser and Bland on their way to the title.

The Wills Point Tigers stayed busy despite the holiday break last week, hitting the court multiple times over a three-day span while competing at the annual Leonard Varsity Tournament. Wills Point fared well overall, going 2-2 in four competitive efforts.

The Wills Point Lady Tigers put together an impressive showing during their final tournament appearance of the season last week, dominating play from start to finish to claim this year’s Quitman Varsity Tournament.

The Canton Eagles spent plenty of time on the hardwood during the recent holiday break, competing at the Paris Tournament Dec. 28-30 before squaring off against a talented Lindale squad to open the new year.

The Martins Mill Lady Mustangs lit up the scoreboard Friday night at home against the visiting Cedar Hill Trinity Christian Tigers, scoring an easy 83-46 win behind a balanced offensive attack.

The Martins Mill Mustangs hosted their signature event last week, welcoming teams from across the area for the annual Bryan Mewbourn Tournament Dec. 16-18.

The Canton Eagles faced a tall task Dec. 17, clashing with perennial playoff qualifiers Commerce in a non-district showdown. Canton would have to battle down to the wire in the contest, fending off a furious second half comeback bid by the Tigers to pull out a 47-45 win.

The Wills Point Tigers evened their season record at 7-7 on the young season last week, picking up a 47-37 road win over the Pittsburg Pirates Dec. 14.

The Edgewood Bulldogs bested a field that included Caddo Mills, Life Oak Cliff, Quinlan Ford, Scurry-Rosser, Winnsboro, Wills Point and Sunnyvale to win the 55th annual Jack Shellnutt Invitational Tournament Dec. 2-4. The win marked Edgewood’s 20th ever title at the event, and first since 2017.

The Van Lady Vandals stayed close to home last week, making the short trip to Grand Saline to compete in the annual Eddie Rogers Memorial Tournament. Van would go on to dominate the event, winning all four games by at least 20 points each to claim this year’s varsity title.
