Tiger tennis wraps up fall season

The Wills Point Tiger tennis program strung together a dominant fall season, entering last week’s Class 4A State Team Tennis Tournament with a sterling 21-1 mark overall. Wills Point would suffer only its second loss of the season in the State Semifinals, falling by a deceptive 10-0 score to Wimberley to finish the fall season as State bronze medalists.

Three to compete at State Cross Country Meet

Runners representing Canton and Wills Point made their way west on Monday, looking to qualify for the Class 4A State Meet by racing at the Region II Meet. Canton was the top finisher among local varsity girls programs, finishing 12 th overall with 334 total points while Wills Point finished 21st with 515 points.

The Canton Eaglettes entered the final week of the regular season with a unique opportunity, taking on the two teams currently above them in the standings with a chance to claim at least a share of this year’s District 14-4A title firmly in play.

County football programs continued to acquit themselves well on the gridiron last week, going a combined 3-2 overall with the playoffs looming just over the horizon. Canton The Canton Eagles returned to the field last week, looking to continue the positive momentum that they had generated in wins over Ferris, Hillsboro and Bullard.
