Body The number-one ranked team in the state in Class 2A boys basketball, the Martins Mill Mustangs, had few problems in their bi-district game Feb. 17 as they blew past Latexo, 74-43.

Body Van Zandt County will be well represented when the boys’ state basketball playoffs begin this week with the bi-district round. The Grand Saline Indians will meet the Troup Tigers in a Class 3A bi-district game Feb.

Body The Wills Point Lady Tigers got off to a strong start in post-season play Feb. 11 as they outlasted Paris, 31-27. The Lady Tigers were led in scoring by Maddy Allen with 10 points. The Lady Tigers advanced to the Area round of the Class 4A state playoffs against Mabank Feb.

Body Coach Justin Burk’s Canton Eagles will be heading to post-season play next week after an impressive district win on the road Feb. 7 breezing past the Brownsboro Bears, 58-39.

Body After finishing their district schedule undefeated, the Canton Eaglettes entered their ‘second season’ Feb. 10 with a lot of momentum and they made sure that there was no letup in their game as they entered the Class 4A state girls’ basketball playoffs.

Body It was a tough night for the Wills Point Tiger varsity boys’ basketball team Feb. 10 as they closed out their district and regular season schedule on the road with a 65-42 loss at Sunnyvale.
