Dear Editor: Citizens opposing the Grand Saline Creek Reservoir Project spoke at the Aug 19 Canton City Council meeting, citing a lack of transparency to citizens by Canton officials while pursuing the project. In addition, several speakers presented evidence showing incorrect, incomplete and misleading information that had been posted by the city on their website one week prior.

BBB gaming study: High stakes, hidden risks

From 2022 to mid-2025, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) received nearly 200 scam reports and over 10,000 business complaints related to online gambling and gaming. Some scam reports involved outright theft, while business complaints showed a pattern of unclear terms and consumer misunderstandings.

Special Session coming to an end

The end of the First Called Special Session of 2025 is in sight, but the Texas Senate did its job by passing all 16 items on the Governor’s list. Unfortunately, House Democrats fled the state, leaving their duties, families, and constituents in the lurch.
