Free Autism Parent Training coming to VZ County June 21

Baylor University’s Family CARE program is offering a free in-person training for parents and caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) on Saturday, June 21, from 1-4 p.m. at the Wild Rose Retreat at Saline Creek Farm in Grand Saline.

Search continues for new VZC auditor after removal of Gazda

According to press releases on the Van Zandt County website, Van Zandt County is again searching for a new auditor after the removal of Catherine Gazda on May 22. “In late 2024, VZC Auditor Sandy Hill announced that she would be retiring from her job in January 2025,” said VZC Judge Andy Reese in a June 2 press release.

Thompson Field host successful TACAS Scholarship Award Ceremony

The TACAS (Tailwind Airpark Community Aviation Scholarship) Award Ceremony took place under sunny skies at Thompson Field June 7, an airport located just four miles north of Canton (690 VZCR 3119) known for its welcoming atmosphere and community spirit.
Scholarship winners announced at the Tailwind Airpark Community Aviation Scholarship (TACAS) Awards Ceremony included Ronald Buie, Katherine Burns, and Elizabeth Loghry. Temporary Restraining Order extended to June 18

According to Van Zandt County Criminal District Attorney Tonda Curry, the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the developers of a lithium battery storage facility being built south of Canton has been extended through Wednesday, June 18 by VZC District Judge Chris Martin of the 294th Judicial District.

The event took place on May 31, and featured a comeand- go ‘Meet and Greet’ where visitors can sample snacks and explore the shop’s extensive offerings.
