The 2025 Edgewood High School Homecoming Queen and King were crowned during pre-game ceremonies Oct. 3 prior to kickoff of the varsity football game between the Edgewood Bulldogs and the Quitman Bulldogs. Members of the 2025 Homecoming Court included Queens: Hallie Erwin, Berkley Bigham, Maggie Jones, and Mallic Lindsey; Kings: Ethan James, Brady Francis, Lucas Pippin, and Preston Sluder; Junior Beau and Duchess, Adam Pool and Allie Sims; Sophomore Beau and Duchess: Desh Golightly and Taylor Thompson; and Freshman Beau and Duchess: Aidan Tyner and Macie Tyndell.

Grave marking ceremony set for Solomon Carter Oct. 11

The Captain James Burleson Chapter United States Daughters of 1812 will hold a grave marking ceremony for Private Solomon Carter, Veteran of the War of 1812 and Early Settler of the Free State of Van Zandt, in Carter Cemetery, in the Southwestern portion of Van Zandt County on FM 4112, at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11.
