On Tuesday, Oct. 7, the SPCA of Texas Animal Cruelty Investigations (ACI) Unit rescued 16 small dogs from a property in Van Zandt County.

Following the approval of their proposed tax rate for 2025 Sept. 29, the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court agreed to adopt the VZC budget for fiscal year 2026 during another special called meeting Oct. 3.

Sheri Raylynn Roach, 47, of Grand Saline was arrested Oct. 3 on a Van Zandt County Grand July indictment charging her with misapplication of fiduciary property, a State Jail Felony, according to information released by VZC Criminal District Attorney Tonda Curry.
