County approves water works

An agreement between Van Zandt County and the Fruitvale Water Supply Corporation (FWSC) regarding improvements for the corporation’s water supply was approved Nov. 10 by the VZC Commissioners Court during its regular meeting.

The Edgewood Heritage Festival was held Nov. 13, in downtown Edgewood. The festival was a success with a large number of attendees strolling through the Edgewood Heritage Museum displays, looking at classic cars, shopping merchants and testing out a number of festival foods.

The filing period for the 2022 Texas primary elections opened on Nov. 13, allowing candidates to file with their respective party chairs for spots on the March 1, 2022, primary ballot.

City of Van announces holiday events

The City of Van is planning a busy holiday season as events scheduled for the months of November and December have been released. There will be a Snow Slide downtown from 2-6 p.m.

Bible talk offered at Senior Citizens Center

“Bible Talks” will be held on from 7:30 -8:30 p.m., Nov. 10, 17 and 24 and the Canton Senior Citizen Center, 200 Groves St., Canton. The event is open to the public. “Come hear the simple teachings of Jesus. No collections are ever taken,” organizers said.

Affordable health screenings coming to Canton

Residents living in and around Canton, can learn about their risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, and other chronic, serious conditions with affordable screenings by Life Line Screening. Mill Creek Ranch Resort will host this community event on Nov. 18.
