Back the Blue Benefit The Wills Point Police Department is expected to welcome hundreds of visitors to Jack Lester Park June 11 as they host their 7th annual Back the Blue Benefi t. The event has become a family favorite in recent years, with music, demonstrations and a BBQ cook-off serving as key highlights.

We had a wonderful spring break at the Grand Saline Public Library. Thank you to everyone that chose to spend some of your time with us last week. Seeing all the happy smiling faces made us even more excited about our plans for the summer.

It was a fun crafting day at the Grand Saline Library March 17. Library visitors were encouraged to make a hedgehog out of old books and craft supplies.

The Texas Association of Appraisal Districts announced historic growth in Texas real estate values. According to the association, regions around the state have seen increases in values between 20-50 percent since last year.

East Oak Street Church of Christ will hold a food giveaway from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 12.

Virginia Reid-Yost will hold auditions for parts in the production of “Sleuth,” written by Anthony Shaffer, at The Talent Box, 133 N. 4th Street, Wills Point. These auditions will be Sunday, March 27, at 3 p.m. and Monday, March 28 at 7 p.m. Performance dates are May 6, 7, 13, 14 and 15.

Elwood Baptist Church in Wills Point will be having their homecoming to mark 124 years since it’s organization in 1898 on April 3, 2022. “We will have a luncheon following the worship service which starts at 11:00 am.

A small margin of votes separated Van Zandt County Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 incumbent Sandra Plaster and challenger Don Ashlock as the results of the March 1, 2022, Primary Election were announced.

In the March 20 issue of the News regarding the March 10 Van City Council meeting, it was reported that the council took no action regarding a new ordinance concerning commercial vehicles. Later in the meeting, with further discussion, the council approved the ordinance unanimously.
