Fourth grade students attend ‘Ag Day’ program in Canton

Around 800 fourth grade students representing all seven school districts in Van Zandt County were in attendance Oct. 3, 4 for the annual ‘Ag Day’ program at the VZC Fairgrounds in Canton sponsored by the Texas Farm Bureau and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.

Fall festival activities scheduled in VZ County

A number of fall festival activities are scheduled throughout the month of October in Van Zandt County including the following: Fall Festival at Yesterland Farm Yesterland Farm, located on Interstate 20 in Canton, is back for another season farm fun through Nov. 5.

Deadline to register to vote is Oct. 10

Cindy Tarno of Canton shares her cancer story Cindy Tarno has lived in Canton for 40 years and was sent here by God, and her husband, Dan Tarno, was called to pastor a church, Walnut Springs Bible Baptist Church, and is now the pastor of Grace Bible Fellowship Baptist Church. Cindy is an advocate of mammograms but hated to admit that she let life happen and did not have a mammogram in about three years.
