The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office released the following arrest report from Apr. 23-Apr.

Locust Grove Baptist Church in the Hiram Community will be holding its annual Memorial Service Sunday, May 5. The program will begin at 11 a.m.

On Sunday, May 19, the Myrtle Springs Cemetery will be holding its annual cemetery meeting. The meeting will be held at the cemetery at 2 p.m.

davidb@vanzandtnews.com Early Voting for the Saturday, May 4 city and school elections came to a close April 30 in Van Zandt County. City elections were held May 4 in Grand Saline, Van, and Wills Point, while school elections took place in Edgewood, Fruitvale, and Van.

Van Zandt County Director of Emergency Management Vicki McAlister shared that there were several road closures in Van Zandt County as a result of a storm that went through the area April 26.

Van Zandt County Sheriff Joe Carter released information on a scam that is currently happening in VZC. “The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a scam circulating in VZC,” emphasized Carter.
