Texans should be aware that con artists and criminals may try to obtain money or steal personal information through fraud or identity theft after Hurricane Beryl. In some cases, thieves try to apply for FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) assistance using names, addresses, and Social Security numbers they have stolen from survivors.

I absolutely love steak, regardless, if it’s from the back strap of a whitetail or loin of a grain fed beef, but there are vast differences in the way each are cooked, or I might say the way each should be cooked.
These ‘tougher’ cuts of steak have been grilled over hot coals until medium well done and now being finished in a cast iron skillet with butter and fresh garlic. Thirty minutes of slow heat will make them tender, and the butter will insure they don’t dry out. Photo by Luke Clayton

New hours announced for FEMA DRC location in VZC

Van Zandt County has been approved for federal assistance from FEMA for the recent storms between April 26, 2024 - June 5, 2024. FEMA has opened a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) for any resident, renter and/or business owner who suffered damage during those storms.
