Services for Peggy Jean Swain Burke, 92, of Grand Saline, were held Monday, February 9, 2026, at Bartley Funeral Home, with Bro. Billy Smith and Bro. Mack Swain officiating.

Interment was in Haven of Memories, Canton. Mrs. Burke passed away February 5, 2026, in Tyler. She was born October 2, 1933, in Grand Saline, to Elvin and Abbie Gipson Swain.

She lived most of her life in Grand Saline and was a member of Corinth Missionary Baptist Church. Peggy began her secretarial career at Salt City Company in Grand Saline.

She later worked at First National Bank in Canton, Cozby Germany Hospital in Grand Saline, and G.W. Oil Company in Canton. She then went on to work for Van Zandt County, where she remained until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Ray Burke; daughter, Judy Mayne Stone; brother and sister-in-law, Sammy and Reba Swain; and sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice and Sam Prather.

Survivors include her two sons, Jerry Mayne and wife, Lisa, and Jody Mayne and wife, Joanie, all of Grand Saline; son-in-law, Randy Stone of Grand Saline; step-daughter, Detra Kay Stasney of Burleson and her children, Kristy and Misty; six grandchildren, Jennifer Davis and husband, Lance; Clint Mayne and wife, Jordyn; Rachel Glidewell and husband, Clayton; Jared Mayne and wife, Lucy; Wesley Mayne and wife, Krystal; and Briley Stone; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Clint Mayne, Jared Mayne, Wesley Mayne, Briley Stone, Clay Glidewell, Lance Davis, and Randy Stone.

The family received friends at the funeral home prior to the service.
